Winners and Losers Start the Same Way

Are you aware of anyone who has a goal to lose?

Think of a football season and the planning leading up to the first game of the year. Each team has the vision and goal to win each game. Even when winning may seem improbable, no team has the goal to lose. Winners and losers always start from the same place. So what is the difference?

If winning was all about setting the right goal, every team would be a winner. But that is not how sports works. That is not how business operates. That is not how life works. Only one champion is crowned when the season or tournament ends.

But wait. We all know having a goal is important. So what is it that separated the winners from everyone else? It's not the goal - it's the process of what you are doing and how you are doing it every single day.

Have you ever set a goal and didn't reach it? Was the lack of winning in the goal setting, or the planning to take steps every day to help you reach where you want to be?

Have you seen the t-shirt that says, "We may not out play you, but we will out work you." The probability of reaching a goal increases when your focus moves from the end goal to the daily process.

Winners are not made on the last day. The winning takes place every day.
